This month, Jiasheng welcomed a buyer from the United States to our Laiwu Island seaweed base and processing plant. The visit covered the full chain — open-water cultivation, harvesting, processing, packing and the commercial discussions that follow.

The timing was fortunate. Our new-season Laver is now in its cultivation stage, and the visitor was able to see one of the most distinctive parts of the work: every four days, the seedling nets are hauled ashore and laid out in the sun. This sun-exposure cycle does three things at once — it lets the young nori absorb energy from sunlight, it helps sterilise the nets against unwanted organisms, and it strengthens the blades as they develop. The result is laver that grows faster and more vigorously, with a firmer texture and cleaner flavour at harvest.

Equally important to a retail buyer is what sits behind the product. Jiasheng holds FSSC 22000 for food safety management, SMETA for s
ocial compliance, and both HALAL and Organic certification — the combination that large supermarket chains and specialty importers typically require before onboarding a supplier.
Discussions during the visit focused on specifications, packaging formats, private-label requirements, order volumes and delivery schedules. Both sides left with a clearer view of next steps, and we look forward to moving the partnership forward.
